Jose Monteiro, 84, of Pawtucket passed peacefully into eternity after a long bout with kidney disease, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brava, Cape Verde Islands, the son of the late Avelino Correira and Arminda Monteiro. He immigrated to the United States in November of 2011. He is survived by his loving wife Maria of 57 years. Together they were blessed with nine children; six sons, Joaquim Monteiro, Jose Monteiro, Carlos Monteiro Autilio Monteiro Joao Monteiro and Nataniel Monteiro, and three daughters, Arminda Monteiro, Eugenia Monteiro, Laurinda Lopes. He was predeceased by two sons, Henrique Monteiro, Avelino, Monteiro, and two daughters Adelina Monteiro, and Irma Monteiro. He is also survived by a sister, Autilia Amado, the late Anita Correira Pires, and the late Irma Faria, and one brother, Joaquim Correira; 42 Grandchildren and 29 Great-Grandchildren.
His funeral will begin on Saturday, April 27th at 8:45a.m. from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, Rhode Island, followed by a funeral service at 10:00a.m. Interment services will take place at North Burial Grounds, 5 Branch Avenue Providence, R.I. Relatives and friends are most cordially invited to attend calling hours on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00p.m.
